Focus on India

As Colin and Cara prepare to travel to visit our partners in India this October, we thought we’d take the opportunity to update you on Bridge’s Indian projects and connections. See below for details of a couple of update evenings in November if you’d like to find out more.

Our link in India is with a network of churches called The Victory Churches of India.

It’s been our privilege to develop relationships lasting many years with the leaders of this network. During this upcoming visit, Colin and Cara will be meeting with groups of leaders to provide bible teaching and leadership training. Bridge also supports a few pastors financially, so it will be good to catch up with them and find out how they’re doing.

“It’s a joy to meet people in another country and culture who serve the same God with such vision and passion.”

Bridge continues to support several poverty relief projects run by the Victory Churches, particularly in the slums of Delhi.

There are 30+ slum schools run by the church and donors to Bridge support a couple of these schools. Feeding all those children Is quite a feat of organisation, with the food being cooked centrally and distributed among the schools.

Bridge provides salaries for the 30 health care workers who are working in the slums to deliver basic healthcare, hygiene and nutrition advice. This project has had a very positive impact on the slum community. It has helped to reduce mortality rates among children, provides a link into health care services and has equipped women from within the slum community.

We need your support to be able to sustain this vital project - please donate at https://thebridgetrustltd.org/how-to-give/

Training and Toilets

In recent years, the church has developed a training centre for those who wouldn’t be able to access vocational education.

A former orphanage building now houses computer training, adult literacy training and a sewing school to help women set up their own sewing businesses.

Through generous donations to the Trust, Bridge has been able to provide sewing machines for some young women completing their training, so that they can become self-sufficient.

Bridge has also been able to fund the building of several toilets in rural areas. These facilities benefit women in particular, who would otherwise be vulnerable out in the fields on their own.

We’re holding a couple of evenings in November for those who’d like to hear more about Bridge’s work in India, and share a simple Indian buffet meal with us.

The evenings will be held at Colin and Cara’s home in Bristol on Thursday 7th November and Friday 15th November, at 7 for 7.30pm. Places are limited, so please book in quickly!

To reserve a place, fill in this form indicating which date you’re available and we’ll be in touch to confirm further details. There won’t be a charge, but we’ll be asking for contributions towards Bridge’s work in India on the evening.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
